ACT Green Initiatives
At Lambton Mall we pride ourselves in our commitment to the environment and our local community in Sarnia-Lambton. Throughout our centre we have a number of green initiatives and programs that contribute to our goals of reducing waste and lowering our carbon footprint. We strive to Always Consider Tomorrow. Some of our current programs include: Energy Efficient Building Automation: our building automation system is set up to control lighting, heating and cooling to optimize efficiency and usageBattery Recycling: you can now drop off used household batteries to Canadian Tire in Lambton MallRestrooms: Low flow toilets, energy efficient hand driers & hands free faucets.Solar Panel: We use solar energy to power parts of our buildingCommunity Partnerships: we support and partner with various local community groups to host recycling collection initiatives at Lambton Mall. Some examples include our newest “Shred-It” event with the Sarnia Police Services and clothing drives conducted by St. Vincent de Paul and the Goodwill Industries Coats for Kids campaigns. Many of our retailers are also going above and beyond to be environmentally responsible with their own “green conscious” programs:WOW! Mobile Boutique: recycles old cell phones- in the event of a sale trade in, phone can be used for in-store creditColes: will collect gentle used books for The Organization for Literacy in LambtonThe Beer Store: takes back all the packaging they sell. Bottles, cans, cardboard packaging, bottle caps, plastic rings and bags, you name it – if they sell it – they take it back.
